The Group

The 4th Littlehampton Scout Group was founded in 1928 and celebrated its 70th Anniversary in 1998, along with the 10th anniversary of moving into our present headquarters.

Originally based in a wooden building in North Street, the Group moved into our current purpose built building in 1988, after many years of intense fund raising by the Committee and parents.

Our anniversaries were marked by a full day of activity, commencing with a service held by a local priest, various activities throughout the day, and culminating in a barbecue during the evening.

Many previous members attended after approximately 1,000 prior and current members had been contacted and asked to join the celebrations.

At present the Group consists of a Beaver Colony, a Cub Pack, and a Scout Troop, our Explorer Scouts currently meet with the Littlehampton Town Unit.

Each section has its own leaders who are responsible for their training programmes and activities. The work of the Scout Leaders is co-ordinated by the Group Scout Leader. He is responsible for finding leaders, liaising with parents through the Group Executive Committee and for the general efficient organisation of the Group. In normal circumstances the individual Section Leaders will be able to answer any queries but the Group Scout Leader is available to solve problems if necessary.
